SHRIMPTON - Mr
Ingram, connection with Canterbury dates since
1850 when the plant of the Lyttelton Times was sent out in charge of
his son.
Mr John Ingram Shrimpton, his nephew Mr Geo.
Tayler and others. arrived Lyttelton, 16 December 1850 and on
11 January the first
number was published. The son and nephew
managed the paper until October 1853 when Mr Shrimpton arrived in
the John Taylor and
conducted the paper until the end of 1857,
He then sold to Messrs Crosby Ward and C.C.Bowen.
----- went to North Canterbury and
became a farmer. --- sold and went to
Timaru owned a station near Hunter's Hill --- founded
1st paper in Timaru ---- aged 65
