Obituary - FIELD
- 001
Mr Strickland S. Field, whose death occured at Heathcote Valley
on 27 November was a very old settler, having arrived with
his parents and a younger
brother in the Canterbury at Lyttelton in October
1851. Mr Field was then a young man aged 17 born in London
in 1834 --------- Mr Field sen took
up a cattle run where Templeton now is ---- Mr
Field sen. returned to England in 1858 ----- Mr S.
Field was married in 1858 to a daughter of
Dr Parkerson of Christchurch. about 1862 and with his
brother bought Gray's Hill Run in the Mackenzie Country
from Mr Hayhurst -------
leaves 2 sons, 5 daughter, Mrs Field died some 9

Supreme Court at Christchurch for 26 years, will retire at the

appointed clerk in the Warden's Court at Kaniere,
Westland. in 1879 appointed temporarily clerk
of the Magistrates Court, Greymouth. in the same year he
became deputy-registrar and deputy-sheriff for Canterbury and in
1881 he was appointed to his
present position.

Mr Edward Hawksworth Hudson, of Hudson's Road, Greenpark,
one of Canterbury's early settlers passed away last Monday ----
youngest son of
Captain Hudson of Old Wadworth Hall, Yorkshire, who
was Captain of 3rd West York Company. He was born at
Conisbro, near Doncaster, Yorkshire
on 19 July 1822 so thus attained an age of 85 ---- ----- in
1861 he left England for New Zealand in the ------- sailing

on Wednesday morning -------- was born in Nelson in
