Death- Gisborne - CAMPBELL
Mr James Campbell, auctioneer & stock agent for Messers Williamson
& Kettle, died yesterday. He was well known throughout the
Colony, especially in Canterbury.
Fatality - MUTCH -
Mrs Mutch, widow of the
late Robert Mutch, who was killed on the Selwyn Railway crossing,
died at the Hospital on Sunday age 70
Napier - CHASE
-
James Chase an old Hawke's
Bay identity, died in Napier Hospital on Friday age 84.
Chase in the early days was a whaler & he had roamed all over the
world.
He was full of reminscences of whaling adventures in the North &
South Pacific.
Obituary - Wellington - MILNE
Mr John P. Milne, a native of Kuriemuir, Scotland and a distinguished
student of St. Andrews University, who arrived here for his health on 5
November,
died in Wellington Hospital yesterday.

Obituary - Greymouth - NANCARROW
Mr Nancarrow, an auctioneer and the Agent for the Union Steamship Co.
here, died this morning, after a short illness.
He was one of Greymouth's oldest citizens & was connected to a
number of local bodies, including the Greymouth Jockey Club, the
Hospital & the
Education Board. Flage are flying halfmast out of respect for the
deceased,and the greatest sympathy is expressed to his wife and
children.
All children are grown up.
Obituary - Ashburton - HAYHURST
The death is announced of Mrs Hayhurst the widow of the late Mr John
Hayhurst, in her 80th year. She was the first white woman, who settled
in the Ashburton district.

Inquest - Christchurch - FOSTER
The inquest was held this morning at the Hospital touching the death
of the child Ethel Foster,who died from burns received on
Wednesday at her home.

Nelson - McLEAN
Captain Lauchlan McLean, who died at Nelson, at the age of 66 was for
25 years Master of sailing ships,between India & England. He
retired from
the sea many years ago, owing to ill health.He went to
Nelson from Christchurch, 16 or 17 years ago and resided there
ever since.He suffered very
much from a complication of diseases, the
immediate cause of death was apoplexy.
Lyttelton - WILLIS
Another old Colonist who passed away, in the person of Mrs Willis. The
deceased lady arrived in Lyttelton with her husband (the Late Dr.
J.S.Willis) & 3 children in the Isabella Hercus, on March
1851. For many years she resided in Opawa, but latterly, with her
youngest daughter at Port Levy. Until her death at the
advanced age of 90 years which took place on Saturday last. Mrs
Willis leaves four daughters and one son, 30 grandchildren and 4
g.grandchildren.

Melbourne - HALL
- comedian
News has been received of a death at Melbourne of a Mr J. Hall,
son of the late Mr J. Hall, the celebrated comedian. The deceased lived
in Wellington
for some years and was well known in various parts of New
Zealand.
Sydney - RUSSELL
Mr Charles Field, a member of the Nance O'Neil Dramatic Co. & not
unknown in New Zealand, died in Sydney early in the present
month. His name in private
life was Mr C.H.Russell, he originally came to the colonies with
Mrs Bernard Beere's
Co.nearly 9 years ago.

BLAIR -
News has been received in Dunedin of the death, at Poone, India,
of Miss Jessie Blair, who had been engaged in mission work.
She left with Mr Lowe &
others in August last year.

Death - Palmeston North - RUSH
Mr J.G.Rush, a well known & highly respected resident of Palmeston
North, died on Saturday. The deceased gentleman landed in
Wellington in 1843,
he settled in the Hutt Valley and for nearly 40 years engaged in
farming operations near Taita. Mr Rush settled in Palmeston
Northin 1882.
He was 73 years of age at the time of his death.
Death - Wellington - KEYS
One of Wellington's oldest settlers, Mr Charles Williams Keys died at
his residence Lower Hutt on Sunday. Mr Keys was born at Tring, Herts,
England, in
1818 and arrived in the colony in the surveying
vessel "Cuba"
Captain Newcombe in December 1839.

Death - MITCHIE
The New Zealand Times announced the death of Mr Thomas Mitchie, a well
known figure in the streets of Wellington,who had practised as a
vetinary surgeon in
this city for 25 years. The late Mr Mitchie
who was 77 years of age was a keen follower of the turf, and an
acknowledged authority on matters pertaining to racehorses.
Auckland - Fatility -
THORPE
A child named Lottie Thorpe, age 14 years was drowned at Paeroa
yesterday, several children including the deceased had been bathing
in the river. They were returning in a boat, from the other
side when one child, thinking that a sandbank had been reached, jumped
out into deep water. The deceased pluckily jumped
in to save the
child and succeeded in doing so, but must have clung to one side of the
boat when lifting the child and the boat being overwieghted
capsized onto her.

Wellington - Mr John DAVIS
Mr John Davis, a settler in the Tokomaru district, on the Manawatu
Railway Line, was found dead at the foot of the cliff, over which he
had evidently fallen.
Woodville -
HARRIES - The infant son of Mr Joseph H. Harries?
died yesterday, after swallowing some match heads.
