Accidents & Fatalities  001
CARNELL  - A son of Mr S. Carnell, M.H.R.  fell into the water when going on board the Corinna  at Napier on Saturday. ----- 
                        one of the people on the launch eventually jumped in and rescued him
OGILVIE  - On Saturday evening a fatal accident happened,  whereby Mrs Ogilvie,  an old resident here,  76 years f age,  was killed. 
                        She fell over the sea wall on the Haven Road  -----   an inquest will be held.

DUNCAN   and  CARL  -  Shortly before the start of the Cross Country Steeplechase at Sumner on Saturday afternoon,  -----
                              Messrs A. Duncan  and W. Carl were in the sulky at the time,  but escaped  unhurt  -----------
McKERNIN  - on Saturday evening a man named McKernin  fell off the Sumner tram  near St Peter's Church,  and fractured his collar-bone badly. --------
UNWIN  -   a boy named Unwin was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning  ------   fractured foot, ----- fall from a horse on the Papanui road,  on Saturday
CLARKSON  -  Mr J. Clarkson  slipped while gathering mussels from under the timbers under the Moody Wharf,  Timaru  on Saturday ------- 
                        fortunately 2 gentlemen  were on the wharf at the time ----   Clarkson was nearly exhausted when he was given the rope.

De TROY 
-   late Mr W. de Troy and his daughter took place at Rangiora yesterday afternoon,  and despite very bad weather there
                             was a large attendance ------  the remains were buried side by side in the Church of England cemetery
                             and the Rev H.  East conducted the service at the graves.

WOODING  -  a fire  in Manchester street, this morning destroyed Worsfold's boarding-house,  premises of Wooding, 
                                watchmaker,  and Attwood,  photographer        -----  Pollock  the owner,

HINANAHI  -named Hamuera Hianahi  was thrown from his horse at Tologa  Bay on Saturday,  and died the
                            same night.  The Natives have removed the body to Whangara.
NASH  - a  settler living near Timaru,  James Nash,  a single man  45 years of age,  was found dead last evening --

Mr,  -a railway accident occurred at the crossing at Morningside,  when Mr Levy, a settler of Waikaimiti,  and Mrs Dickson  --
MULLIGAN  - William,  who left Petone,  ---  not far from the station where Mulligan was employed.
SMITH  - as Mr L.J,  confectioner of Barbadoes street, ---  his trap was capsized and both shafts broken.  Mr Smith escaped unhurt.
                         --------  the accident occurred at Butcher's Ford. 
WATERS  -   Mr F.B.Waters,  Mayor of Greymouth,  --- died this morning.

HOPE -  wife of George, accidentally fell out of a cab -------  taken to a house owned by Julia Wilson. ---  she died
BELL  - James, swam his horse into  Lake Taylor, 3 times  ----- the body was recovered 2 hours later.  -----
