Donald and Motley had ceased to practise and were
both well advanced in years; but Drs Rouse,
Macdonald and Chapman
- men in the prime of
life
- were cut off in the middle of a useful career, in one
case by accident, in the others by sudden and short illness.

saplings --- saw a burning tree the top part
fell striking both lads,
Gibson died
instantly
while Stuck escaped with a broken leg ----
