when the Wakatu was searched for him, the ladies cabin was
missed
and the gallant though too much married Captain got safely off to
'Frisco by the outgoing mail boat. -----

for Auckland appointed Captain in the 4th Waikato Militia

in 1874 resident Magistrate of Christchurch --- was a
renouned rower at Oxford --- he was 47 years of age. ----- a very
