Inquest   -  EYTON  -  002
Mr John Eyton,  a gum digger,  was killed by another gum digger at Northern Wairoa ----  at the inquest a verdict of manslaughter was returned.

Naseby  -  TURNER  -  003
Thomas Turner,  miner,  was killed by a fall from his horse at Naseby.


Wednesday  4 December  1872
Sudden Death  - NEWSOM  -  004
Mrs Newsom,  the wife of a tailor ----  suddenly dropped down dead ----     leaves a family of 7 children.

Accident  -  GRESSON  -  005
His Honor Mr Justice Gresson  had a very narrow escape from serious injury  -----  riding through Cathedral Square ----  horse slipped on a stone
 -----  suffered severe shock and a small cut on the nose.

A fatal accident occurred to a young man named Rieder ----   in company with his brother-in-law,  a farmer  named SCHIFFIER?,  he went out on
horseback  ----  animal reared up and fell back on him in a ditch ----   inquest held yesterday,    verdict accidental death.

---  Mr Thomas Brown,  was a sheep-owner ---on the 25 Mile Lake,  and while tailing lambs -----  died on Wednesday night  ---
                    supporting a widowed sister and her children  -------

----  Mr Hopkins ----  riding the waves on the beach at New Brighton,  when his horse became restive and  threw him ----  escaped with nothing worse
than good ducking.

Mr Williams,  Baptist Minister,  died from the effects of the coach accident on Friday.

Mr George Haskell  met with a rather serious accident on the Rangiora Drain road last Monday ----    horse took fright ---   sustained some severe
internal injuries  and bruises ----

Inquest   -  HENLEY  -  019
---  a man named Thomas Henley,  died suddenly at Dilloway's Hotel,  from the results of  -----    larking,  on Thursday last ---  deceased  and a man
named John VICKERY  were playfully trying their strength against each other when Henley fell, -----  broken his leg ---  accidental death.

Ashley Downs  -  FREE  -  020
 ---- that the boy Free who had his feet accidentally cut off by a reaping machine  on Friday week -----   progressing very well towards recovery.

Kaiapoi  -  BEAN  -  021
The body of the boy Silas Bean,  who was drowned in the Waimakariri River   at Kaiapoi on the regatta day,  was found on the beach near New Brighton
yesterday -------
