-----  missing Capt. Evans of the steamer Wakatu,  who was supposed to have drowned while on passage from Wanganui  to Nelson ------ 
is now in command of one of the largest steamers out of 'Frisco.  when the Wakatu was searched for him,  the ladies cabin was missed 
and the gallant though too much married Captain  got safely off to 'Frisco  by the outgoing mail boat. -----
